This past Saturday, Nicholas and I took a little adventure to Dallas! We initially visited because the LaTech College of Engineering and Sciences had a recruitment session in one of the conference centers, but of course we made an adventure out of it! We explored the largest IKEA I have ever seen-- no seriously, the two story Ikea had a restaurant and a daycare. We visited a mall, and ultimately my favorite part was the dinner we had at The Magic Time Machine in Addison, TX. Of course, I also made Nicholas model in Downtown Dallas for me! My title derives from me screaming "We don't belong here!!" as we struggled to maneuver through traffic. The Ikea was full of interesting ideas. My favorite is a walk-in closet concept where the closet is behind a wall with two entrances, one on either side of the bed on the other side of the wall! It was so well organized. The whole trip to IKEA just made me excited to have my own house one day!
Every booth is set up as a theme from school houses, to a box of crayons, pirate ships, a school bus, Mario World, and Gilligan's hut. We were seated in Gilligan's hut and our waitress was Katniss Everdeen! If you know me, you understand that my "inner child" is just below the surface. You don't have to dig very far to find it, but this restaurant blew my mind! I'm ready to go back right now, even. The salad bar is an old 1952 MG-TD Roadster and the call it the Salad Car. They have other booths like a carousel that has horses that seem to be dancing above you. The building in Addison is a historical site because the building is over 120 years old! I ordered a drink that, while it didn't taste amazing, it bubbled and smoked so I was truly pleased.
I really enjoyed taking photos in downtown Dallas as well. Instead of ranting about it, I'll just show you below! P.S. Dallas has a lot of large and small dogs which made me very happy!
